RCMP arrest youth in connection with robberies on Poundmaker First Nation

The Battlefords RCMP says they’ve arrested a suspect in connection with robberies on the Poundmaker First Nation.

On June 29th, around 5 PM, officers responded to two robberies at at a business on Highway #4 on Poundmaker First Nation. The suspect walked into the first demanding vehicle keys, and when he didn’t receive any, went to a neighbouring business where he did get vehicle keys. The suspect allegedly shot off a gun, but no one was hurt.

Investigation determined the stolen vehicle was at a home on Mistawasis First Nation, the RCMP says.

Officers from the  Ahtahkakoop Detachment, Big River Detachment, Blaine Lake Detachment, the Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team, Police Dog Services, the North Battleford Provincial General Investigation Section and the Emergency Response Team assisted in arresting a male youth in connection to this investigation.

The suspect, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with two counts apiece of discharging a firearm with intent and robbery, among other charges.

The suspect will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on July 5th to face these charges.
