Maidstone traffic stop leads to drug charges

A traffic stop in Maidstone on the Thursday before last has lead to drug charges.

On June 24th, around 2:25 PM, officers stopped a driver on Highway #16 near Maidstone. The stop resulted in a search, and during it, officers allegedly found two kilograms of cocaine, two ounces of cannabis and a sum of cash.

The driver, 35-year-old Robin Bernhart of Edmonton, was arrested on the scene. Bernhart has been accused of alleged possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, cocaine trafficking, possession of over 30 grams of cannabis in a public place and possession of property obtained by crime, less than $5,000.

Bernhart will appear in court in Lloydminster on August 24, 2021.
