Lloyd Exhibition bestows title of Parade Marshall to Mike Sidoryk

Former boss at the Lloydminster Exhibition Association Mike Sidoryk is being honoured for his lifetime of service to the Lloyd Ex and the community.

Sidoryk who retired just before the Pandemic is being handed the honour of Parade Marshall for the 2021 return of the Lloyd Summer Parade and Fair. He says it feels like getting an Emmy.

“I tell you what, it was a great life and a great opportunity that I had, that was given to me working with the Association for all those many years and supporting Lloydminster and community as well.”

Sidoryk reflected on the economic challenges during his tenure.

“Well the biggest challenge was the downturn that started in 2013 to the Western [Canada] economy. That was the biggest challenge we faced in the last number of years. It was pretty strong and that just slowed everything down and put a real challenge into the whole community.”

Sidoryk salutes the team at the Lloyd Ex that has managed through COVID-19.

“The staff and the Board have done a great job to maintain and keep the Association thriving as best as they can through these trying times. The Board has been always supportive and they are very progressive board and they all had to play a strong role in the continued success of this Association.”

For Sidoryk who has had a very busy life in the Midwest for over four decades, retirement will not be idle.

“We also farm and ranch, so you’re never out of work.”

Sidoryk maintains his deep gratitude to the Association for the honour of Parade Marshall 2021. He looks forward to seeing the success of the Association for many years to come.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
