Battleford man charged with voyeurism over the course of other investigation

A man from the town of Battleford has been charged with voyeurism after a photo was found in another investigation.

The first investigation stems from an incident on July 7th, 2020, when two women, an adult and a youth, were approached by a man and shown unsolicited, inappropriate material on a mobile device.

That investigation did result in charges of alleged committing an indecent act and making sexually explicit material available to a minor, which were laid against 54-year-old Edward Ilnicki and are before the courts.

The new charge of voyeurism was laid after police were going through a mobile device in this investigation, and found a photo of a woman which is suspected to have been taken without her knowledge or consent.

The North Battleford General Investigation Section investigated and found that the photo was taken at a home in the area. After doing a search there, the RCMP says they had evidence to support the voyeurism charge, which was laid against Ilnicki on July 20th, 2021.

The detachment adds that the victim was not a member of Ilnicki’s family or part of the household where the photo was taken, but no further details will be released to protect her privacy.

Both of these matters have yet to be proved in court. Ilnicki will next appear in North Battleford Court on August 24th, 2021.
