Lloydfest 2021 is ready to launch this weekend

The multi-cultural showpiece that is Lloydfest is headlining the weekend activities in the Border City.

Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds will see a celebration of food and performances from the various world cultures that have settled in the Border City.

Event organizer Susan Cambridge says admission is free, but be sure to get a boarding passport when you arrive which is your ticket for all the giveaways. A special highlight will be a culture bag giveaway with art and craft for kids.

“We will be celebrating Ukraine. We collaborated with the Lakeland Multi-Cultural Association and they have sent the [culture] bags to us. We are going to be celebrating Ukraine via craft with those bags and we have a few giveaways.”

Cultural performances will be representative of areas around the world, such as Africa, China, India, Mexico, the Philippines and Latin nations.

Cambridge says bring out your chairs for the big attraction which is the premier of LloydFest the Movie with technical support from Maz Entertainment.

“The movie time will be 1 to 3:45 p.m. and then the next time will be 5:10 to 7:55 p.m. both on Saturday and Sunday.”

The Lloydminster Native Friendship Centre will also be in the mix in the food area which includes cuisine from Mexico, Pakistan, Chile, the Philippines and mini-donuts.

More information can be found on the Lloydfest Facebook page or on their website.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
