100 Men Lloydminster donate to Men’s Shelter

100 Men Lloydminster have announced its latest charitable donation.

The Lloydminster Men’s Shelter is the latest recipient of funding from the local organization that is committed to the betterment of the community through giving.

The group heard presentations from both the Men’s Shelter and Big Brothers and Big Sisters but ultimately decided to go with the Men’s Shelter.

“Both groups made brief presentations to the members outlining the work they do in the community and from there we conducted a secret ballot of the members in attendance to determine who the recipient would be…  Both groups demonstrated tremendous needs for funding.  In the end I think many were surprised that the Men’s Shelter is still facing so many challenges in this economic downturn.  They are still full most every night,” says Shane Schneider, Co-founder of 100 Men Lloydminster.

Donations taken in at the meeting totaled $5,400.00 but Schneider says they will be reaching out to 100 Men members that weren’t in attendance to collect their $100.00 donations. To date 100 Men Lloydminster has raised $33,800.00 in its first year of operation. Schneider hopes to push the total over $35,000.00 when all is said and done.

The group also heard from Pioneer Lodge which used their previous donation of $9,500.00 towards renovating 2 bathrooms.

The group meets once every quarter with the goal of investing ‘four hours and $400.00’ per year toward charitable groups in the City of Lloydminster and area.  100 Men Lloydminster will hold their next meeting Tuesday June 7th, 2016 at 6:30pm.
