Lloydminster scores Alberta award for red tape reduction

The City of Lloydminster has gotten an accolade for Red Tape reduction from Alberta.

Mayor Gerald Aalbers shared the good news at City Council on Monday.

“The certificate that we received was from the Minister of Municipal Affairs recognizing the City of Lloydminster for our work in red tape reduction. I believe it goes back to our business license work that was done through the LEAN program.”

LEAN programs focus on eliminating waste while lifting quality, safety and sustainability for the customer’s benefit. Its core values embody respect and continuous improvement.

Aalbers said the award which came in the mail was a welcome surprise as opposed to it being presented at an AUMA meeting.

“Certainly it’s nice to be recognized for work that we were very excited about doing. It was rewarding from that perspective of streamlining the business licensing process, and to be recognized at a provincial level is very much appreciated.”

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
