Friends of the Lloydminster Library organize online fundraiser

The Kaleidoscope Campaign online fundraiser will see the Friends of the Lloydminster Public Library providing that extra set of hands in three support areas.

The library’s move to the LloydMall has been delayed forcing a return to the basement at the Atrium Centre downtown.

Lynette Ireland whose passion for the library goes back over two decades says the Friends of the Library assist with things that fall outside of budgetary constraints of the library.

“It might be a piece of equipment. It might be running a program. It might be facilitating a book club. Anything that the library needs that they can’t fit within their normal work budgetary parameters, Friends of the Library is there to assist them.”

Ireland spent 26 years on the local library board and with her combined love of reading remains active in her support of local initiatives.

The Kaleidoscope Campaign has three funding aspects that people can support. These are Imagination & Innovation and on that wish list is a Chromebook computer lab, Cricut machine, and  3D printer. Residents can also make donations which will be used to directly build up the library’s collection which is loaned to the community. The third aspect is the Area of Greatest Need where donations can be designated to ensure the library can maintain its free, accessible products and services.

Ireland says donors can specify the aspect to which they wish to contribute.

“We’re calling them Imagination and Innovation. The Collection or Area of Greatest Need. Even the Imagination and Innovation, if you say this is the area I want to donate to and I want to donate $10, then that’s where the $10 you donate will go to.”

Residents can find more information on this campaign on the Lloydminster Public Library website.
