Mervin 2nd Lights for Life runs Dec 1-5

“The biggest night we had last year was 100 car loads, which is big for our little town.”

With mental health supports and fund raising for the Canadian Cancer Society, the Mervin Community Hall will once again be the backdrop for the second Lights for Life Tour running from December 1-5 from 6-9 pm CST.

Event planner Diane Macnab adds this year they are looking to top that number of cars, especially with more kids activities, including a maze, as well as dinosaur and scavenger hunt.

She explains that the money raised is used as well, to support community well being.

“We send the money directly to the Cancer Society for their share, but for the mental health, we save the money here and we put on events throughout the year to help people with mental health to keep them busy and doing things and getting them out of the house.”

Macnab says the community always did Trees for Life which was a dinner theatre and silent auction over three days, but with COVID they had to change things up, hence outside was the way to go.

“Everybody can social distance and visit and have a good time and it all takes place outdoors. So that worked out good for us.”

Their online silent auction ends at noon CST on Sunday December 5th and there will be free fireworks at 5:30 p.m. CST.

Over 60 homes and businesses in Mervin and area will be lit up for the lights tour.

His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
