UPDATE: Hwy 16 east of 40 avenue reopened to traffic

UPDATE: The Lloydminster Fire Department indicated at 1:48 p.m. on their social media, that the farm equipment was removed and that east and westbound lanes on Highway 16, east of 40 Avenue were open to traffic.

A piece of farm equipment is lodged under the CP Railway overpass east of 40 Avenue.

The City says eastbound traffic on Highway 16 is down to one lane starting at 40 Avenue for an undetermined amount of time.

They say only the inside lane is open to traffic. However, emergency services ask motorists to avoid the area if possible. If you need to travel through the area, please slow down and pay attention to any signage posted and watch for workers.

Emergency services personnel and other responders are on scene to remove the equipment and full road closure may be necessary.

The City will update as more information comes to hand.
