Local non-profits get Tobacco Reduction grant dollars

Monday’s Council meeting saw the approval of about $28,000 in grant funding being divvied up among some local non-profits.

The funds come under the 2022 Lloydminster Tobacco Reduction Grant.

The following groups will receive funding support for their respective programs:

  • Lloydminster Interval Home: Luving My Lungs,  $12,000
  • Lloydminster Sexual Assault Services: Behind the Smoke – Lighting Up Coping Skills, $6,000
  • Lloydminster Area Drug Strategy: An Influential Generation & Tobacco Retailers Accountability Course (TRAC), $7,000
  • Lloydminster Area Drug Strategy: Partnership to Assist in the Cessation of Tobacco (PACT), $2,900.

The goal of the Lloydminster Tobacco Reduction Grant is to support a healthier smoke-free Lloydminster by funding community group projects that raise awareness of tobacco related health risks.

Administration was also authorized to reallocate any unused or returned grant funds.
