RCMP makes arrests following traffic stop

Bonnyville RCMP have charged 2 individuals from Cold Lake following a traffic stop.

On the morning of Monday, March 7th, an RCMP Constable conducted a traffic stop, in the area of 50th Avenue, for a vehicle seen without a front bumper. Further inspection revealed to the officer that the license plate attached was not actually associated to the vehicle. The 39-year-old male driver and the 39-year-old, female passenger, both of Cold Lake were detained, and later arrested, after being unable to produce any documentation for the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle for documents revealed a meth pipe, liquor, and a small amount of what appeared to be cocaine belonging to the female occupant. The female was released on court compelling documents to attend Bonnyville Provincial Court for Possession of a Controlled Substance and the male was released without criminal charges, but was issued violation tickets for Operating a Vehicle without Insurance, Operating a Vehicle without Registration and Displaying License Plate that was Improperly Issued all under the Traffic Safety Act, along with a violation ticket for having Liquor within easy access of an Occupant.

The vehicle was seized until proof of registration and insurance can be provided.
