SaskPower rate increase engages Review Panel

The Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel is inviting public comment as SaskPower seeks a rate increase.

SaskPower is proposing a system average rate increase of 4% effective September 1st, 2022 and 4% effective April 1st, 2023.

According to the crown corporation, the average residential customer, will see an increase of $5 per month on September 1st and $5 per month on April 1st next year. As well, the average farm customer will see increases of $11 per month on September 1st, 2022, and $12 per month on April 1st, 2023.

SaskPower says the increases are driven primarily by higher natural gas prices.

Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel says the rate application and supporting documents will be posted on their website when these become available.

The Panel will also communicate information on public hearings at a later time and lead an independent technical study.

The Panel will provide the government with its findings the Cabinet will make the final decision on SaskPower’s request.
