New CEO at Lloyd Co-op

A new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is at  the helm of the Lloydminster & District Co-operative as of March 14th.

Peter Brown comes to Lloydminster after his most recent role of Business Advisor with Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) in Saskatoon.

Erin Rommel, Board Vice Chair and Chair of the Recruitment Committee is welcoming the appointment.

“We are pleased to announce Peter Brown has accepted the position of CEO for Lloydminster and District Co-op. With his proven belief in the co-operative model, extensive experience within the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS), and his commitment to serve our membership alongside our dedicated team, we know we’ll be in good hands.”

Brown’s Saskatoon posting had him provide key direction for 18 local co-ops. He’s excited to get down to work in the Border City.

“Lloydminster has a lot of opportunities. This is a fantastic city. It’s vibrant and there is so much to look forward to. And this Co-op just has a great amount of opportunities too.”

He says one of his goals this year is getting to know the team at the Lloyd Co-op and getting involved in the community.

Brown, who grew up in the North Battleford area, is in his second week and is already engaged in discussions about projects in the area.

“We have a lot of different conversations going on and projects in the community we want to look at. But it’s definitely early and we will continue to look at what makes the best sense for our members and the community. We will stay focussed on that.”

Brown says as he gets introduced to team members at the different locations in the area there is already the aspect of the co-operative spirit that stands out.

“Every time I was introduced, the team would say,’Welcome to the Lloydminster Co-op family.’ And that really hits home. We are a family. I thought that was just wonderful. We are not playing for the next quarter. We are here for the long term.”

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
