Brand new national Debt Clock rolls into Lloydminster Thursday

The Canadian Taxpayers’ Federation national Debt Clock will pay a visit to Lloydminster Thursday.

Franco Terrazzano, Federal Director says they are concerned about the size of the national debt.

“The feds are already a trillion dollars in debt and that debt is going up by about $400 million dollars every single day. And that means that each Canadian is already on the hook for more than $30,000 in federal government debt.”

Terrazzano says the national Debt Clock tour across Canada dates back to the 1990’s when Paul Martin was finance minister and the debt was coming down slightly in that decade. However they have had to build a new clock.

“We had to get a new one because the Trudeau government broke the old one. We just did not have enough digits on the old clock to show the government’s one trillion dollar debt. I guess we underestimated the ability of politicians to spend other people’s money.”

The new Debt Clock will be at Spiro’s parking lot from 11 a.m. until about 1 p.m.

More information including viewing the national debt clock in real time is available online.
