Sask anglers guide available

Outdoor enthusiasts can now download the 2022-23 Saskatchewan Anglers Guide to their phones or tablets for easy access.

The new season opens May 5th in the southern management zone which includes Lloydminster, May 15th in the central management zone and May 25th in the northern management zone. Officials say that anglers should be familiar with Saskatchewan’s fishing regulations before heading out.

The guide details the regulations, policies and practices that guide fishing in the province, including a full listing of waterbodies with specific catch limits and special regulations. Physical copies of the 2022-23 Saskatchewan Anglers Guide will be available at Ministry of Environment field offices, most provincial park offices and select retail outlets in early May, according to Environment officials.

Information on catch-and-release practices, preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species and information on how to measure your catch and properly package it for transport is included, say ministry officials.

Free fishing

Anglers may fish without a licence in provincial water bodies outside of national parks during the Free Fishing Weekends of July 9th-10th, 2022 and February 18th-20th, 2023. However, all regulations still apply during those weekends, including possession limits and reduced limits on some water bodies.

More information including how to buy an angling licence can be found on the government’s website.

The guide can be downloaded using the this link. Its contents are applicable from April 16th, 2022 to April 15th, 2023.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
