On Monday, March 14th, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP received a 9-1-1 call reporting two males fighting with axes in Kehewin. Officers attended a residence and located a 31-year-old male resident of Kehewin in the basement. The man was wanted on outstanding warrants for Unlawfully at Large from Fort Saskatchewan, and was subsequently arrested without incident. At the time of arrest, Police noted the man had sustained several injuries. The other male involved in the incident had fled the scene but was later located by police at a nearby residence. The 35-year-old male Edmonton had suffered a head injury.
Upon further investigation, Police discovered that the two men had initially arrived at the crime scene in a stolen vehicle, accompanied by 2 women: an 18-year-old resident of St. Paul and a 35-year-old resident of Kehewin. Witnesses told police that both males involved had struck each other with axes and at one point the two females held down the 31-year-old male so that the other could axe him.
