Water Treatment Plant getting UV Disinfection technology

Lloydminster City Council has greenlit the purchase of UV reactor technology from Trojan Technologies.

The City will buy four (4) ultraviolet disinfection reactors to be installed at the Water Treatment Plant costing $447,920, excluding GST, with a contingency allowance of 15 per cent in the amount of $67,200, excluding GST.

City engineers determined that Trojan Technologies is the supplier with the equipment needed that would work at the water treatment plant without causing major disruption to the existing system.

Council documents identify the need for an additional disinfection method by using UV disinfection in the event that the clarifier was to be put out of service.

Council aims for implementation of the system in the fourth quarter of this year.

Also, the construction and implementation phase of the Lime and Carbon systems at the Water Treatment plant are slated for the first quarter of 2023. Those contracts were approved in February.
