Colors workshop coming to Lloydminster

Orange, blue, gold or green. The colours are being used to paint personality types and foster team building in the workplace.

Startup Lloydminster and Community Futures Lloydminster Region are teaming up to bring the ‘Colors’ Workshop to Lloydminster on April 27th which is Administrative Professionals day.

“We are thinking there might be businesses that want to reward their administrative professionals with a great interactive afternoon out of the office and we have provided a nice lunch at the beginning, followed up by the workshop,” says Wendy Plandowski, Executive Director Startup Lloydminster.

Organizers say the personal and professional development opportunity is an entertaining and interactive session that explores personality dynamics to help strengthen and improve relationships with others.

Plandowski has participated in a previous workshop and sees it as one of the best team building exercises. She explains that sometimes in organizations there is a clash of expectations between creatives and detail-driven individuals.

“The wonderful thing about Colors is that it allows you to understand, the reason that the person sitting next to you is so focussed on the details is because that’s their personality type. They might be a high-gold person. And the reason that you’re so focussed on the big picture is because you are a blue or an orange or a green.”

The in-person workshop is being facilitated by author and speaker, George Boelcke who has over 25 years of experience. He is the only full-time Colors facilitator, hosting seminars in North America and Europe. His publications include Colorful Personalities: Discover your Personality Type through the Power of Colors.

Plandowski sees the workshop as a tool for self-understanding.

“It is just a fantastic way to understand your own personality. Why you do the things you do. What motivates you and what makes you respond to your external world.”

The workshop will be at least the second time that Boelcke will be facilitating in Lloydminster and it will take place at the Lloydminster Exhibition from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The power of Colors is taught to more than half a million people each year. It is used as a tool for team building, fostering unity, staff retention, sales and marketing and communication, according to organizers.

Tickets and other information can be found on the Startup Lloydminster website.
