Property tax penalty deadline July 25

Property tax payments are due on or before Monday July 25th. The reminder from City of Lloydminster officials comes in an effort to avoid late penalties.

Anyone who has not received their 2022 tax notice is asked to contact Assessment and Taxation immediately by calling 780-875-6184 Ext. 2124 or emailing: [email protected], says administration staff.

The notices were mailed to all property owners on June 10th and the documents were printed on yellow paper, as they were in previous years, for ease of recognition. If a mortgage company pays property taxes, the yellow slip received by the property owner indicates “paid by mortgage.”

Property taxes provide 24 per cent of the city’s annual operating revenue. The funds will provide policing and protective services, street maintenance and the operation of parks and recreation and cultural facilities.

Anyone who purchased a property in Lloydminster this year and did not receive a tax notice is advised to contact the Assessment & Taxation department immediately. Due to a three- to four-month delay at the Alberta Land Titles Office, the city is not receiving Alberta ownership change information in a timely manner, and a tax notice may not have been issued to the new property owner. The new owner must provide the city with proof of ownership, and the city will provide a copy of the tax notice.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
