2 people face drug trafficking charges out of Bonnyville

Bonnyville RCMP have made arrests following a traffic stop.

On Thursday, March 25th, a Constable doing pro-active patrols pulled over a red truck that drove past him with known occupants to him inside the vehicle.

The officer knew the passenger, a 29-year-old resident of Bonnyville, who was wanted for No Insurance out of Bonnyville.

During the arrest of the passenger on the outstanding warrant, a meth pipe was spotted in the vehicle and the driver: a 27-year-old female from Kehewin, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Search of the vehicle revealed numerous baggies containing methamphetamine, 2 cell phones and a large amount of cash, a baggie of marijuana, and a drug kit. The street value of the estimated 26 grams of methamphetamine located in the seizure is approximately $2,000. All evidence was seized and both vehicle occupants were arrested for Possession for the Purpose of Traffiking.

Both persons were transported to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment where they were placed in front of Justices of the Peace.  The female was granted $750 cash bail facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Traffiking, Possession of Proceeds of Crime, Possession of Marihuana and Failing to Comply with Conditions.  The male was granted $750 cash bail facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Traffiking, Possession of Proceeds of Crime and Possession of Marihuana.

Both paid bail and were released on court compelling documents to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on Tuesday, April 5th, 2016.
