Dr. Phone Fix cuts the ribbon

In October 2021, Dr. Phone Fix opened the doors on its Lloydminster repair outlet.

The chain of mobile and device repair outlets totals 29 across four provinces. Tuesday’s ribbon cutting formalized their Border City operations opposite Walmart.

Mayor Gerald Aalbers is expressing delight to see this service being made available in the city.

“It’s great to see new businesses come and invest in our community. There is optimism, certainly from that perspective. Dr. Phone Fix is a company that’s going across Canada and opened several new stores across Canada last year.”

Aalbers noted with everyone carrying a cell phone or digital device, there is economic value in being able to repair, rather than having to replace.

With the opening of this and other enterprises in the city, Aalbers commented on the business climate heading into the fourth quarter of the year.

“We have other grand openings of business and people are seeing Lloydminster as an opportunity; a place to be. There’s a regional service centre and a regional business centre.”

Shaun Merriman, chief financial officer with Dr. Phone Fix says they have been opening a new location on average every three weeks and are on track to have 40 locations Canada-wide by Christmas.

“So we have been busy and that has been our focus; it’s growth. And now, we want to bring the community in and understand our businesses here and we are looking to be a part of the community and grow with them.”

Six hundred Canadians break their cellphones every hour, according to officials at Dr. Phone Fix.

Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
