WestMed Paramedics moves to ALS ambulance service

WestMed Paramedics in St. Walburg is getting an Advanced Life Support ambulance service designation from the SHA.

The change means that as an ALS service, WestMed can utilize advanced care paramedics to deliver greater pre-hospital care like advanced medications, airway supports, and manage more complex patient care situations, says the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

From September 1st, the rate charged for services by WestMed Paramedics will change to $325 per call, which is the same as all other ALS ambulance services in the province. The mileage rate will remain unchanged at $2.30 per kilometre.

Fees for seniors aged 65 and over will continue to be capped at $135 per ambulance trip as part of the province’s Senior Citizens’ Ambulance Assistance Program.
