Police target traffic enforcement in Servus Sports Centre area

A two-day blitz in the area of the Servus Sports Centre near 12 Street saw officers hand out 28 violation tickets, five warnings, one vehicle towed, oneĀ  bylaw ticket for public urinating, and one alcohol related driverā€™s licence suspension under the Alberta Immediate Roadside Sanctions program, according to Lloydminster RCMP.

In the past month, the Lloydminster RCMP says it got over 20 calls regarding dangerous driving, excessive noise and littering in the area. Officials say they tried to deal with the behaviour by conventional education, however several dangerous vehicle related incidents caused them to take further actions.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Lloydminster RCMP, along with the Crime Reduction Unit and city bylaw enforcement, conducted a traffic operation. Officers referenced the ongoing input from the community and encouraged citizens to continue sending tips by calling the RCMP at 780-808-8400.
