Fuel Good Day Sept. 20

Lloydminster and District Co-operative is hosting its Fuel Good Day on Tuesday, Sept. 20 as it raises funds to support school breakfast programs.

The four Lloyd Co-op gas bars will be donating five-cents-per-litre on all fuel sold.

Chase Scarf, vice president of operations says the program is now in its sixth year having raised over $40,000 for both city and rural school breakfast programs.

“Feeding and fueling families is at the heart of what we do. And to be able to support students to get a good healthy start with some breakfast at school is very important to us. Our surrounding communities have been great at supporting it and we are looking forward to doing it again this year.”

Also, being served are limited edition Fuel Good Day donuts and cookie slices.

Scarf says some area schools will host charity barbecues at each gas bar location from 4 to 7 p.m.

“We are glad to bring those barbecues back. There are going to be four rural schools on site. We have got Marwayne, Lashburn, Neilburg, and Kitscoty. They are going to be hosting barbecues and all proceeds from those barbecues are going to be donated to their rural school breakfast programs.”

This year’s Fuel Good Day event runs from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. with free coffee from the start through to 7:30 am, then again in the afternoon from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
