City factors growth projection in hosting future needs forum

“Lloydminster’s population is poised to grow to 67,000 people by 2050,” says mayor Gerald Aalbers, noting that the city is “one of the fastest-growing communities in the region.”

His comments come as the city prepares to host an information session called, “Connection to our Future,” taking place at the Lloydminster Public Library in the LloydMall on Thursday Sept. 22 from 4:30-6 p.m.

The city indicates it is updating the municipal development plan “to fit the needs and desires of a growing community.”

“The community’s input will help determine a path forward as council and administration establish a vision for our community’s growth and development over the next 30 years,” says Aalbers.

As officials seek to garner community input on how residents want Lloydminster to evolve, they encourage those who are unable to attend the in-person event to complete the online survey.

Residents can also have their voices heard by calling 780-874-6184 ext. 2322.
