Snowfall warnings issued around the region

Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for Lloydminster, Wainwright, Vermilion, Provost, the Battlefords, Unity, Maidstone, St. Walburg as well as the Lakelands and Meadow Lake areas.

Heavy snowfall over northern Alberta.

Accumulating snow will begin early this afternoon near Peace River, spreading east toward Slave Lake by late afternoon. The snow will extend into the Cold Lake and Lloydminster area by this evening. Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are forecast for these regions.

This snow will gradually come to an end by Sunday morning.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Residents are advised to monitor road conditions on 511 Alberta and the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline.
