T Bar 1 Transport takes two

Two decades of trailblazing is paying off for area business T Bar 1 Transport as the oilfield supplies and service company walked away with two awards at this years Lloydminster Chamber business excellence awards.

Employer of the Year sponsored by ATCO and Business of the Year sponsored by Tim Dyck Financial were scooped up by T Bar 1 Transport.

One of the owners, Stephen Newman in expressing his surprise at the recognition, reflects on the challenges of the last five years noting that this year “they have been doing very well.”

“We went through five-years of pretty tough sledding. There were times – especially COVID. You don’t know if you’re going to make it or not, because everything shut down so bad. But we are blessed. We have made it through and we are doing alright.”

Newman muses that in the early days he was afraid to send another employee as “he wanted to do the best job”, but now they have such great talent that “they don’t need him out there,” he jokes.

The Hillmond-based operator credits the support of the staff and community where “everybody looks out for everybody else.”

“We are social people. People like people. We are not here to put anybody down. We are here to help everybody. Let’s do it together.”

Newman says they are very grateful for the recognition and expressed pride in all the staff at T Bar 1 Transport.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
