The Saskatchewan government is committing $400,000 for a community response fund to support Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirit people.
The funding is aimed at projects to promote and enhance prevention, and build safety for Indigenous women, girls and Two Spirit people, their families and communities, say officials.
“This new funding program will support valuable community-led Indigenous projects to address the issues raised in The Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls,” says Minister Responsible for First Nations, Métis and Northern Affairs, Don McMorris.
Ten community projects, each receiving up to $40,000 will be considered as the program rolls out. The application deadline for submissions is Dec. 16.
