Tire slashing suspect arrested

Police say 19 vehicles had between one and four tires damaged after a knife wielding suspect slashed tires at a Lloydminster apartment building.

Officers were called to the building in the 1600 block of 47 Avenue on Nov. 20 at about 6:25 a.m. Reports indicate a man was slashing tires with a knife.

Police spoke to vehicle owners at the scene as well as a possible suspect who had not been positively identified at the time. Over the course of the investigation, police were able to identify the male suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Nov. 28, police arrested Tyler Stephan, 27, residing in Lloydminster, SK.

Stephan has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Mischief over $5000
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The precise cost of the damages is still under investigation, however police estimate the total will exceed $5000.

Stephan was released by a Justice of the Peace to appear in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan Provincial Court on Jan. 9, 2023.
