Saskatchewan’s population passes 1.2 million

Record population growth of more than 10,000 people in the third quarter of 2022 and more than 22,000 people over the past year has boosted Saskatchewan’s population to over 1.2 million people for the first time ever.

Stats Canada further added that the quarterly population growth of 10,316 people is the largest ever recorded dating back to 1971.

The population growth in the third quarter of this year was driven by net international migration of 10,553 and a natural increase (births minus deaths) of 1,261 offset by net interprovincial outmigration of 1,498, according to the federal statistician.
