Lloydminster’s Ward joins Lethbridge Hurricanes

Lloydminster hockey product Landen Ward has signed on for the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the Western Hockey League.

The 2006-born forward weighs in at some 200-pounds and is just over six feet tall. He is currently in grade 11 at Lloydminster Comprehensive and will be working out his educational balance while he plans for camp in the fall with the Hurricanes.

“So I’m hoping to go to camp and show them what I’ve got and why they made the right choice by signing me and taking me on their team. Hopefully show my talent at camp and then be there for the remainder of the season,” says Ward.

Playing most recently in the Alberta Elite Hockey League U18 AAA for the Lloydminster Bobcats, Ward has put up nine points with a total of two goals, seven assists and 62 penalty minutes over 14-games.

The forward will be finishing his season with the U18 AAA Bobcats ahead of his move to Lethbridge.

“Basically it’s just to keep working hard this summer to make sure my speed is up to date, so I can perform better at camp and keep up with the fast pace,” says Ward.

The Hurricanes are currently on a four-game road trip.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
