After a few seasons of virtual performances, Lloydminster’s young music talent will once again take to the stage for in-person adjudication at the local music festival.
The Kiwanis Lloydminster and District Music Festival is pegged for in-person sessions from April 23 to May 6.
President Kerry Taylor says they are looking forward to the live performances of the children after the last three-years.
“Right now we are doing our registrations – everything is done online. We are hoping to get a decent number again this year. Of course we were doing the last two-years in a video format. The live is going to be different. We are hoping it draws more children and that we start seeing our numbers on the climb again.”
The music festival is on the rebuild following the COVID-19 restrictions.
Taylor said some 875 kids were registered in 2020 when the festival had to be canceled. Over the last couple seasons numbers were down to just about 345 and 375 entrants. While video submissions were used and the adjudicators’ comments returned to the kids, Taylor indicated that a return to live performances will be beneficial for the youth – to sing and play music for an audience.
“The vocal, piano and instrumental are at Grace United Church and the bands will be at Vic Juba Community Theatre. We would just like to invite everybody out, on those days to come and see these young performers present us with their beautiful music.”
