Special guest announced for Lloyd Ex’s equine event

Written by: Shawn Greenlaw

The Lloydminster Exhibition Association has announced the return of Everything Equine on The Border, along with a very special guest speaker Amberley Snyder.

Snyder is an American professional barrel racer turned motivational speaker, writer and actor. She was in an accident that resulted in her being paralyzed from the waist down, but did not give up on riding, and continued her career, to which she has found success. Her story is the focus of a biographical movie, Walk, Ride, Rodeo.

She will be present for a clinic on mental prep, as well as the banquet the following day, and finally a meet and greet on the last day, says Dallas Eaket, board member.

Event Administrator Jen McRobert praised Snyder as the best guest for the event. With her story of tragedy and triumph, McRobert said that her stories can resonate with anyone.

“Every event at the Lloyd Ex, we try to make them as inclusive as possible to everyone in the community. With a story like Amber has, whether it’s tragedy or triumph. She’s competed at the American Rodeo, which is the equivalent of the Super Bowl for football. So no matter what aspect of her story, somebody can get something from it.”

Beyond Snyder’s involvement, McRobert explained that this event is for anyone and everyone who’s curious about horsemanship.

“You don’t have to be into horses to be learning something about it, if you have questions, this is the place to go and everyone is so forthcoming and willing.”

The event, which is running from April 14-16, will feature entertaining and educational training in horsemanship along with a tradeshow, fashion show and demonstrations from local trainers.

More information and registration for Everything Equine on The Border is available on the Lloyd Ex website.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
