Maidstone RCMP investigate sexual assault of a minor in Lashburn

Maidstone RCMP are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a report of sexual assault of a minor at the Lashburn Sportsplex.

On Sunday Jan. 29, investigators say that an adult male is suspected to have sexually assaulted a female child, who is under the age of 10, in a dressing room at the rink sometime between noon and 1:30 p.m. The child reported the sexual assault to her parents, who contacted police.

The suspect was not located and the police investigation is ongoing at this time.  The Maidstone RCMP is seeking your help with information and images taken in the sport centre.

Police describe the suspect as a man in his 40s, with dark hair. He was clean-shaven and was wearing a black jacket.

We are also interested in any home security footage that captures the roadway in the arena area, from the same timeframe,” says Maidstone RCMP Sgt. Jolyne Harrison.

Police want parents and guardians to be aware of this incident and the suspect’s description. Also, for parents to take safety precautions and have conversations with their children about it, as they deem appropriate.
