Lloydminster city officials are confirming that a “minor leak” of chlorine prompted the temporary closure of the BioClean Aquatic Centre indoor pool on Monday morning.
Lifeguards and maintenance staff are being commended for their swift action by Joel Turcotte, director of recreation and cultural services.
“The situation caused a brief inconvenience for our participants, it’s comforting to see that our safety protocols were effective in ensuring the protection of both the public and staff.”
Lloydminster Fire Department crews were on scene and after staff made the “necessary repairs” they were able to give the all clear to bring the indoor pool back online for swimmers to safely enjoy, shortly after 10:15 a.m.
