The full list of Alberta’s provincial hockey champion teams, from Atom level to Senior have been released.
Teams in our area that made the 2016 Hockey Alberta Provincial Champions list are the Bantam B Cold Lake Freeze, the Peewee C Marwayne Sled Dogs, and of course, the Midget AAA Lloydminster Bandit Pipeline Bobcats.
The Midget AAA Bobcats are heading to Quispmsis, New Bunswick next week, for the 2016 Telus Cup. The tournament starts Monday, April 18th, and the Bobcats’ first match up will be at 7:00 p.m. MST that evening, against the winning team out of the Quebec league, Lions du Lac St. Louis.
The rest of their preliminary round games are scheduled as follows (all times in MST):
- Lloydminster (Pacific Regional Champs) vs. Host team, St. John Vitos; April 19th, 10:30 p.m.
- Lloydminster vs. Western Regional Champs, Saskatoon Contacts; April 20th, 7:00 p.m.
- Lloydminster vs. Atlantic Regional Champs, Dartmouth Major Midgets; April 21st, 3:00 p.m.
- Lloydminster vs. Central Regional Champs, North York Rangers; April 22nd, 12:30 p.m.
The semifinal games will be played on April 23rd, and the gold and bronze medal match ups will be played on Sunday, April 24th.
As well, the Bandit Pipeline Midget AAA Bobcats are hosting a tailgate BBQ send off Friday, April 15th at the Civic Centre from 3:30-5:30 p.m. The ‘Cats will be on the ice for practice until 4:30 but the team will join in with supporters and fans afterwards for hamburgers and pop.
