Special ballot application open for Alberta May 29 poll

For those who may be unable to vote in-person for the May 29 Alberta provincial elections, special ballot applications are now open.

Elections Alberta says along with voting in-person on Election Day, there are five days of advance voting, mobile voting stations, special ballot voting and a mail-in ballot option for electors unable to vote in-person.

As of March 1, electors may apply for the special ballot option. Special Ballot packages can only be sent out once the Writ is issued and must be received back at the returning office or Elections Alberta before the close of voting on Election Day. This provides just 28 days to send, complete, and return the package, say officials.

Elections Alberta will also offer the Vote Anywhere Service for those who may not be in their riding but still in the province. Electors may choose any advance voting location to vote and receive the ballot for their electoral division. More than 300 advance voting locations have been secured for the week leading up to the election, May 23-27.

For Albertans living in treatment centres, emergency shelters, community support centres, and supportive living or long-term care facilities, Elections Alberta is offering mobile voting locations. Facilities must have at least 10 electors that are resident or receiving services at the facility to be eligible for a mobile voting station.

Albertans may apply for the mail-in option on the Elections Alberta website.

Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
