Sask government raises physician incentive to $200K

The Saskatchewan government is raising the physician incentive to $200,000 up from $47,000.

This as it says it is enhancing the Rural Physician Incentive Program in its bid to attract more family physicians to rural and northern communities in Saskatchewan.

As well, to support retention of staff the length of the program is increasing from four years to five years.

Authorities indicate that eligibility for the incentive is also widening beyond new graduates to include physicians practising in rural and northern communities who have been assessed through the Saskatchewan International Physician Practice Assessment Program (SIPPA).

The new incentive program starts April 1.
