Paynton and Maidstone Fire Departments are currently at the sceneĀ of a large grass fire that is crossing both lanes of Highway 16, near the Village of Paynton.
Maidstone RCMP are currently blocking offĀ the highway, asĀ there is zero visibility due to smoke. Travellers onĀ the highwayĀ can expect delays. At this point, it is unknown at what timeĀ vehicles will be able to safely pass through inĀ this area.
The fire started on the south side of the road and is crossing over the highway.
