Saskatchewan has proclaimed May 10 as Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Appreciation Day.
The province is also joining in the observance of May as Early Childhood Education month.
Officials state they seek to attract more people to make a career in the sector as the province is providing tuition-free ECE training, bursaries and supporting the Saskatchewan Early Childhood Association (SECA) in the development of an ECE recruitment strategy.
There are almost 20,000 regulated childcare spaces in operation in 164 communities across Saskatchewan, and officials add creating more ECEs remains a priority for government.
