Seniors financial safety being served along with breakfast

Synergy Credit Union will be serving a free breakfast and having a chat about seniors financial safety as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is being observed on June 15.

Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Lloydminster is coordinating the return of the seniors breakfast session with the Synergy team leading the conversation on financial abuse and fraud prevention among seniors.

“Our primary objective is to empower our seniors, navigating them through the constantly evolving landscape of fraud and technology while ensuring they feel secure enough to seek clarifications,” says Cheryl Kirzinger, Internal Auditor, Synergy Credit Union.

“FCSS Lloydminster is thrilled to collaborate with Synergy Credit Union and our LEAP partners in bringing attention to the crucial issue of financial abuse and fraud prevention among seniors,” says Patrick Lancaster, Manager, Social Programs and Services.

Since 2019, the Lloydminster Elder Abuse Prevention (LEAP) Committee has worked to raise awareness surrounding elder abuse, prevent future cases, and oversee a coordinated community strategy to prevent and respond to elder abuse, states city event planners.

The Seniors Food for Thought Breakfast takes place Thursday, June 15 at the Legacy Centre (5101 46 Street). Breakfast will be served from 9-10 a.m. and presentations run from 10-11:30 a.m.
