Tip off about stolen bike leads to arrest of suspect

A tip about a bike which Vermilion police say was reported as stolen has led to the arrest of a male-suspect.

On May 30, at about 9:55 p.m., Vermilion RCMP were informed of the location of the bicycle and also the suspect.

When they arrived on scene the bike was not spotted, however officers say they began to check possible places where the suspect was known to frequent.

Investigators say they eventually found the bike and arrested the suspect. Police report that he was breaching conditions and in possession of a stolen ID.

Andrew James “AJ” Prill, 37-years of Vermilion, was charged with:

  • Possession of stolen property under $5000
  • Failure to comply with probation order (2 counts)
  • Failure to comply with release order (2 counts)
  • Failure to comply with recognizance
  • Possession of identity document
  • Possession of suspected cocaine

Investigators say that more charges are pending as they obtained a search warrant for Prill’s property and were able to locate more items which they report as stolen.

Prill was held in custody pending a Judicial Interim Release hearing. Following the hearing, Prill was remanded to appear on June 5 at Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion.
