Convocations conclude at Lakeland College

Three convocations later and that’s a wrap for the graduating class of 2023 at Lakeland College.

On May 26, the College celebrated 130 graduates from the business, energy, university transfer, health and wellness and foundational learning programs. On June 2, the spotlight switched to the Vermilion campus where 366 graduates from agricultural sciences, human services, interior design, environmental sciences and fire and emergency services crossed the stage in two ceremonies.

Specially honoured this year was Class of 1997’s Marilyn Young with the Distinguished Alumni award, recognizing her work in Lloydminster’s business and volunteer community.

Also, long-time supporter Judy Sweet was bestowed the Distinguished Citizen award and given an honourary bachelor of agriculture technology.

Receiving the President’s medal this year were general business graduate Andi Raisa Noor Tabusalla from the Lloydminster campus and at Vermilion, environmental sciences diploma graduate Nathaniel Hak got the accolade.

The Governor General Academic Award is presented to the student with the highest GPA at each campus. Business administration student Dominic Skibba took that honour in Lloydminster, while the Vermilion GPA-standout will be announced later in the summer, after they have finished their practicum.

Lakeland College also recognized 18 generational graduates whose parents, grandparents or great-grandparents are Lakeland alumni.
