Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Lloydminster & Area

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Lloydminster and the surrounding area.

The weather body states that conditions are such that a severe storm or storms could occur this evening, producing alongside it lightning, high winds, large hail, and torrential rain.

Environment Canada says people should be cautious of hail, as this can break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury, along with damaging other property.

They also advise that thunder and lightning can be dangerous as well, and to return indoors on the sight of these weather phenomena.

This weather watch adds to both a heat advisory and air quality statement for our area, which are both in effect already and have been for several days.

People are encouraged to monitor Environment Canada weather alerts as they come and can email severe weather reports to them as well.
