Synergy Shares awards scholarship dollars

From 85 applications, three Midwest students are the recipients of scholarships from the Synergy Shares Scholarship program.

Through the Synergy Credit Union effort, they will all receive support over the course of their post-secondary studies.

Lloydminster resident, Clare Wever will be attending the College of Agriculture, where she has been accepted into the BSA program.

“Once I graduate from the College of Agriculture, I would like to apply to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Currently, I aspire to specialize in poultry and flock medicine,” says Wever.

The second winner is Keiji Hopfner, from Lashburn, who intends to earn a bachelor’s degree in science and pursue a degree in medicine after his undergraduate education.

“I enjoy interacting with others and assisting those in need. I also want to have the expert abilities to help those close to me, and my community, and the financial resources to help others achieve their goals,” says Hopfner.

The third recipient was from in-house at Synergy.

Haedyn Castle who aspires to become a chiropractor when she completes her degree says, “I plan to finish my undergraduate degree in Camrose, Alberta and then make my way down to the United States to complete my chiropractic degree.”

Each student will receive $1,000 annually for up to four years from Synergy Credit Union.

The program is open to all graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a college, university, or trade school in the upcoming academic year. Awards are based on academic excellence, community involvement, and leadership potential.

More details are available on the Synergy Credit Union website.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
