Resident in Bonnyville reports RBC scam

The Bonnyville RCMP Detachment has received a complaint from a resident regarding a phone scam.

On Tuesday, April 19th, a Bonnyville resident reported that they’ve received multiple phone calls from a caller stating they worked for Royal Bank of Canada. The complainant relayed that the caller asked her for her RBC security question and answer.

The resident had already reported this incident to the bank in question, who advised her that they don’t normally contact customers via phone unless it’s regarding an appointment with a specific advisor.

Reports of scams/fraud can be called in to the RCMP as well as filed with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
