Parks Week is on, July 9-15

Saskatchewan recreation planners are describing Parks Week, July 9-15 as a great time to explore and connect with nature.

With several great camping and swimming locations around Lloydminster and area, it’s a no-brainer to check out the numerous park activities ahead of Parks Day on July 15, across Canada.

Officials note activities from a relaxing day at the beach, along with fishing, or watersports among the fun in the summer sunshine.

“From forests, to grasslands, to sand dunes, the diversity of Saskatchewan’s landscapes and parks often surprises visitors,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross said. “With exciting programs and events, Parks Week is a great time to explore and celebrate all the beauty our province has to offer.”

Saskatchewan is celebrating by hosting a range of fun family events and theme days in many provincial parks. Officials list activities like guided hikes, sandcastle building contests, camping themed crafts, Amazing Races, scavenger hunts and water games among other events.

Being in Lloydminster, residents may choose from parks in Alberta or Saskatchewan and make plans to visit on Parks Day.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
