Drivers’ Ed class returns Saturday

From making that turn in a tight space to successful parallel parking, the tips for safe driving will be demonstrated on Saturday, Sep. 23 at the Honda parking lot.

Event planners are reaching out to new drivers and seasoned stalwarts as it aims to get safe driving top of mind.

Becky Domes with Lloydminster Honda says they have gotten the word out to schools in about a one-hour driving radius from Lloydminster.

“We want to put a focus on young drivers in the community and help them shape their ideals on safe driving, avoiding areas of distracted driving, impaired driving – and really planting that seed early on. Of course, everyone can use a refresher on it, especially with everybody having a cell phone all the time.”

For the newbies, anyone with a driver’s license or a learner’s along with a parent or guardian can sign up for the training from 9 a.m. until about 5 p.m.

“When you come in, there will be a couple big white tents set up. You can go in, go through the registration, you get a wrist band and then you will be guided through on to the course and then go through the course from there with our trained instructors,” says Domes.

The Nuff Said Car Club season closer will also be happening on Saturday from 1 p.m.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
