The music program at Lloydminster Public School Division is getting a tune-up with the addition of some musical instruments courtesy of Lakeland College.
Lakeland College approached the LPSD in June with the donation of the instruments which comprised several pianos. The instruments were used at the college’s music programs, but have been well maintained.
The band rooms at Bishop Lloyd Middle School and Winston Churchill School were recipients of upright pianos, while Lloydminster Comprehensive High School received a grand piano, a baby grand piano, a drum kit, and a double bass.
On Friday, Sep. 22, LCHS band students, along with LPSD Superintendent of Education Trisha Rawlake, LCHS Principal Dwayne Marciniw, and music teacher Stephen Davis were on hand to express how grateful they were to Lakeland College President Dr. Alice Wainwright-Stewart.
Students are looking forward to getting hands-on playing time with the new instruments as they further hone their musical skills, say LPSD officials.
